About Me

Makasha at home

My name is Makasha Dorsey, hence the site name, MakashaDorsey.com. I am a wife, the mother of two boys, a writer, a full-time student, a crafter, and a Christian.

It has taken some time to sink in but my primary role is wife, which is why I chose to use the tagline a wife in progress. My other blog, which has been discontinued, focused on Makasha, the write-at-home-mom. I have since realized I am more than what I do—if you want the details you can read my first a wife in progress blog post.

This is the place where I talk about marriage, life, lessons I’ve learned, or anything else that seems relevant to my readers. Occasionally, I will even answer questions submitted to me on my contact form. From time to time, I write book and product reviews. Sometimes the products are given to me, other times they are not—either way, I will always let you know if I was compensated in any way to post a product review.

Since I am a full-time student, I may also post excerpts from my writing assignments to get feedback—you know professor feedback doesn’t necessarily engage meaningful conversation.

Lastly, I am a Christian. My vision is to have my words, work, and thoughts inspire you to be better. I am not perfect, just a follower of Christ. If I happen to write something that uplifts you, please comment. If I offend you, I’d like to hear from you too.

Other Stuff You Might Want to Know

As a freelance writer and business consultant, I work for Dorsey Group, LLC, founded by my husband and I. While I try not to write about being a writer, you may notice that I will promote my clients and my products on this site. Just like book reviews, whenever I mention a client or a client’s product/service, you will have full disclosure.

I am available for workshops and online conferences. If you would like to book me for an event, please click here.

I am the author of The Church House (affiliate link) and a contributor to Surfacing … Phenomenal Women on Passion, Politics, and Purpose (affiliate link). I have also written for Absolute Write, The Midwest Book Review, and The Daily Times Leader. If you like my writing and would like for me to write for you please click here.
