Nestled behind a few businesses and a condo building, The Dolphin View Restaurant in New Smyrna Beach, Florida is an almost hidden gem. Almost…

Driving up to the big blue building is not impressive at all. But, as soon as you walk around what looks like a storage facility you get it. I mean, you really get it. The view of the water and the bridge is spectacular. And, it is called The Dolphin View for a reason. I hadn’t figured out how to use the continuous feature on my camera (affiliate link) so I was only able to get the fin in the picture below.

Ladies and gentlemen I had the pleasure of seeing live dolphins while I ate. How cool is that? Speaking of eating, the food was simple and delicious. Look at this fried cod meal…

The cod was a fresh as can be. The coleslaw—let’s just say they didn’t give me enough to go with the mound of fish. You can’t go wrong with fries and that hushpuppy—perfection. As a seafood lover I was right at home. Unfortunately, I didn’t get snapshots of my sisters’ meals. One had a fried fish platter; the other, a shrimp sandwich. My mom had the cod like me. If we had known the portions were so large we could have shared two meals instead of buying four. But, we support small businesses and we had leftovers for a late evening snack.

By the way, my sister, who loves key lime pie, ordered a key lime bite. She said it was so good she had to have another to go.

In addition to a great view and delicious food, I was impressed with the service. Everyone working seemed happy to be there and happy to serve. The restaurant also offers a dinner cruise for $19.99. It is a 1 1/2 hour boat tour but it rained the day  I was in New Smyrna so the cruise was canceled.

If you ever visit New Smyrna Beach and want a good, inexpensive meal with a great view, go to The Dolphin View.
