Bonefish Grill is one of my favorite places to eat. It is a place we go for “special” date nights. Every time we go, the hubs and I always get at least one appetizer of Bang Bang Shrimp—“crispy shrimp, tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce”.

In Montgomery, we lived rather close to the restaurant. Now, too far to go frequently. So, I had to come up with my own version of the recipe.

I started with what I had in my pantry. The only thing not pictured is the onion powder, red pepper flakes and sour cream.Bang Bang Shrimp

Copycat Bang Bang Shrimp Recipe

  • 1.5 pounds of shrimp, cleaned and deveined
  • Cornstarch
  • Seasoned Salt
  • 1/2 cup of Mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup of Sour Cream
  • 1/4 cup of Sweet Chili Pepper Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Hot Chili Pepper Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Hot Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of Garlic Powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon of Onion Powder
  • splash of Rice Vinegar
  • Vegetable Oil

Mix everything except shrimp, cornstarch, vegetable oil and seasoned salt in a large bowl. Set aside.

Coat the bottom of a skillet with vegetable oil and place on medium heat. Lightly season shrimp with seasoned salt then coat with cornstarch. Cook shrimp on each side until done. Drain on paper towels.  Toss shrimp in sauce and serve immediate over lettuce or greens, if desired.

We don't have a Bonefish Grill near us, so I've never tried these. But I LOVE some shrimp, so this is going into our rotation. I generally stick to more 'lemon' seasonings when it comes to the dish, so it will be nice to spice things up! Susan Mahlburg recently posted..Pura d’or Hair & Body Care
