I was empty; drained bone dry. I had nothing left. Not even my heart. Granted, it beat the same rhythm it had before he came. Now that he was gone a hollow ache echoed at each thump.

Every rainbow promise depredated my inhibitions, causing my actions and reactions to serve the needs of that predatory fabulist. He robbed me; withholding nothing from himself and everything from me.

Lies weren’t necessary. I would have offered him everything, given the choice.
