I participate in a lot of online social networking, most of which is centered around marketing, branding, parenting, and being a wife. Recently, several of the conversations in each of the groups focused on appearance.
5 Things You Can Do To Look Your Best Every Day
Get an adequate amount of sleep.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, the average adult needs about 7 – 9 hours of sleep every day. While there is no magic number for the amount of time we need for shut eye, we all need rest for our physical well-being and to look good.
Sleep deprivation can cause dark circles around your eyes, wrinkles, and weight gain.
Eat right and drink plenty of water.
Did you know a diet rich in antioxidants and Omega 3s can improve your skin by reducing inflammation? If you don’t believe me, try Perricone’s 3-Day Diet. I follow this regimen a few times a year and am consistently complimented on how beautiful my skin is. And, I almost always drink water. Consuming enough water will help you to have bright, clear eyes and a radiant complexion because it helps to rid your body of nasty toxins.
As the wife of a fitness professional, you would think I would have this area of my life conquered but I don’t. My weight is a constant struggle. However, being skinny is not my aim when I remind myself and others to work it. It is the health benefit.
Getting adequate exercise will increase your energy. With higher energy levels you become more motivated to do the things you need to do like eating right, keeping your hair done, and having your style in check.
Take care of your skin and hair.
Skin and hair that is consistently maintained are easy to makeup and style. Following a good skin-care regimen can help manage wrinkles, acne, and dark spots. When you care for your skin it is a little easier to skip the makeup when you are pressed for time. While we are not our hair (pun intended), our tresses tell the story of how much effort we put into ourselves. To look great daily, healthy, well-groomed hair is a great place to start.
Have “go to” wardrobe items to help you look and feel good.
Whether you work outside of the home or within the home—homemakers work without tangible pay—most women face some sort of morning rush. Sometimes we are grossly underprepared because we spend so much time taking care of everyone else. While I prefer khakis, sundresses, and slacks, occasionally I find myself with very little time to iron. Instead of wearing jogging suits, I like to reach for jeans, baby tees, shoes/sandals, and nice accessories.
And because everyone has bad hair days, it is always good to keep a wig or two on hand. Yes, I said it: GET SOME WIGS. I often read status updates and conversations on Facebook from people—especially women—who offer harsh judgment of women who wear wigs. Don’t worry about them: Do You! Wigs are for women who are confident enough in their own hair to explore and experiment. Bestselling author Shelia Goss thinks wigs are a great fashion accessory.
